| Onnie's Woodworking Project |
This week was the conclusion of Onnie and Cassidy's favorite activities. For Onnie it was woodworking, and for Cassidy it was her ballet/hip hop/jazz dance class. Cassidy's end of the year recital was Monday afternoon. It was so cute! They performed Alice in Wonderland, and all the little girls wore "Alice" costumes. Cassidy did a great job, although she did get distracted at one point showing off a boo boo to another girl. I hope Jim caught that on video! After the recital, the teacher told them she would see them in the fall. Cassidy turned to me and said "I can't believe it is over, Mom." Good thing I signed her up for dance camp this summer.
Onnie has been doing an eight week woodworking class after school and loved every minute of it! The first week, he brought home these adorable little wood robots. Then he made a puzzle. The rest of the time, they worked on the catapult and a scoring board. I was a little nervous about him sawing and hammering, but he told me that they had a very important rule in woodworking class. It was "To always pay attention to what you are doing." I think I have said that a few times myself. I couldn't believe it when he walked out the door with the catapult. My first thought was where are we going to put it. Then I remembered that Dad and I built a catapult for a physics project in eleventh grade. Onnie is way ahead of me! He immediately started pleading for me to sign him up for the next session. When he got home, he put lego men on each of the squares, and he and the girls had a great time shooting them down!
